Torture is considered as one of the most concerning issues globally, and despite a numerous dedicated international legal documents on human rights, this domain remains within the scope of focus of the world community.
Yesterday, an international conference on the theme "Human Rights - an Important Factor in the Sustainable Development of Countries" dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the institution of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) took place in the capital city.
The issue of ensuring human rights does not lose its relevance, regardless of whether a person is at large or serving a sentence. Convicts and prisoners also have certain rights established by law. In particular, Article 28 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes that persons deprived of their liberty have the right to humane treatment and respect for the honor and dignity inherent in the human person.
At the recent videoconference chaired by the head of state on the issues of the support system for women and the further strengthening of their position in society, topical tasks of today were discussed.

It must be recognized that ensuring fundamental human rights and freedoms is a priority among the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan.
