The membership of our country in the UN Human Rights Council testifies to our country's commitment to fulfilling its obligations and protecting human rights on a global scale. In this regard, the meeting discussed plans and measures that will be jointly implemented in 2021-2022 within the framework of Uzbekistan's membership in the UN Human Rights Council.

The Ombudsman also noted in her speech at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council that the National Preventive Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture will never allow any form of torture that degrades human dignity and is inhuman. She also noted that this is reflected in the State Program for 2021 "Year of Support for Youth and Public Health" and outlined the tasks for the future.

- I highly appreciate the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to prevent torture and state policy. Because in today's modern society and state, there should be no place for torture at all. Because they are one of the factors leading to a fundamental violation of human rights. There are over 30 special Ombudsmen in the UK. In this regard, during the conversation with the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights, we agreed on a number of projects for the exchange of experience of the Ombudsmen of the two countries on human rights. In addition, I personally met with regional representatives in Samarkand and Fergana. We also exchanged views on our cooperation in improving their performance, training and prevention of torture. At today's meeting, I got acquainted with the activities of the Authorized Person for Human Rights in Uzbekistan, work with appeals, monitoring visits within the framework of the National Preventive Mechanism and received a lot of information.

During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on the initiatives planned by the Ombudsman in 2021 to ensure human rights and the analysis of appeals addressed to the Ombudsman in 2020. The meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
