It turned out that the center was created in 1998, a kindergarten building was allocated and adapted for it. Up to 1,800 people with disabilities are treated annually at the 55-bed facility.

This center provides rehabilitation services not only to people with disabilities living in the Navoi region, but also to residents of the Bukhara region.

In order to create comfortable and adequate conditions for people with disabilities, according to the investment program for 2022, it is planned to build a modern 4-storey specialized center with 100 beds.

As part of the monitoring, a meeting was held with the staff of the Navoi Regional Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics for the Disabled. The participants were informed about the adoption, within the framework of the Action Strategy, of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” and the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the implementation of generally recognized international norms and standards in the field of ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities in national legislation.

A number of issues were also raised at the meeting. In particular, despite the fact that the center has departments for surgery and ozone therapy, it is reported that there are no staff units for the use of autoclaves and specialists in ozone therapy.

There were no appeals from persons with disabilities who are being treated at the institution to the Regional Representative of the Ombudsman.
