Based on the issues on the agenda, the participants discussed the protection of social rights of citizens working in CIS countries.
At the meeting, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for human rights (ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova noted the need to improve national legislation in the field of migration, taking into account the norms of international law and strengthening mechanisms to protect the rights and freedoms of migrants.
She emphasized the relevance of improving migration legislation and protecting the rights of migrants within the Commonwealth. F. Eshmatova also expressed confidence that the development of a unified approach to the definition and classification of the rights and obligations of migrants in accordance with international human rights obligations can help solve many long-standing problems in the field of migration.
It should be reminded that following the summit of the CIS Heads of State held on October 15, 2022 in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, the "New Regulations on the CIS Commission on Human Rights" were adopted. Thus, the activity of the CIS Commission on Human Rights was established. The first meeting of the CIS Commission on Human Rights was held on November 29, 2023 in Minsk.
