The monitoring covered Settlement-Type Institution No. 41 in Surkhandarya region, Correctional Colony No. 12 and Settlement-Type Institution No. 36 in Navoi region, and Settlement-Type Institution No. 51 in Tashkent city.
During the visits, the monitoring teams examined the living conditions of inmates, including sleeping areas, bathrooms, canteens, medical units, libraries, long- and short-term meeting rooms, investigator and lawyer rooms, the working environments of inmates involved in labor, and the heating systems of the facilities.
Additionally, appeals submitted to the “Ombudsman Boxes” were reviewed, and both group and individual interviews were conducted with inmates. In these open discussions, inmates shared their views on facility conditions, the behavior of staff, and the state of their labor rights. A total of 34 appeals were received during the conversations.
Following the results of the monitoring visits, the Commissioner will submit official response documents to the relevant ministries and agencies.
