At the meeting of the Committee, the annual report of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) on activities in 2021 was heard.
At the meeting, it was noted that the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) was engaged in her activities mainly in considering citizens' appeals, improving the legal framework, monitoring the observance of human rights, and activities aimed at preventing torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading the dignity of types of treatment and punishment, the development of international cooperation in the field of human rights and freedoms, as well as ensuring the openness and transparency of the activities of the Ombudsman.
In total, during the reporting year, the Ombudsman received 18,738 appeals from citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, citizens and ombudsmen of foreign states, stateless persons, public organizations and other legal entities.
In particular, the meeting discussed the analysis of women's appeals to the Ombudsman and the strengthening of cooperation with the Committee.
An appropriate decision of the Committee was adopted on the considered issues.
