Organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), the meeting was attended by heads of more than 60 national human rights institutions, representatives of intergovernmental organizations that promote them, and representatives of networks of national institutions from this sphere.
We should remind that since 1992 the Republic of Uzbekistan has been a full member of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova also took part in the high-level meeting and shared the experience of Uzbekistan in ensuring human rights with the participants .
The reforms to improve the activities of the Ombudsman and the work carried out in the direction of cooperation with the parliament were also highlighted.
During the event, the participants were provided with information on the study of resilient national human rights institutions, on raising awareness on the use of the guide developed by the ODIHR on strengthening the resilience of national human rights institutions, on studying international best practices in addressing threats to national human rights institutions, on strengthening cooperation and developing innovative approaches to support national human rights institutions at the risk.
As part of her working visit to Warsaw, Poland, the Ombudsman will also take part in a regional training on the topic “Integrating the issue of sexual and gender-based violence into prison monitoring”.
