Drivers should not pay fines due to road repairs - Ombudsman
It is known that repairs and maintenance work are carried out on the roads from time to time. However, in some cases, drivers are forced to violate traffic rules due to blocked roads.

A similar situation was observed on September 21, 2022 at the intersection of Ziya - Shifonur streets in the Almazar district of Tashkent and caused a lot of discussion on social networks. On this day, a part of the road was closed for the period of repair work on the carriageway, and a corresponding special sign was installed indicating the need to bypass this part of the road. However, as a result of the detour, drivers were forced to cross to the opposite side of the road. Special traffic cameras recorded all these cases and, as a result, the drivers were fined.

The fact that the exemption from fines is considered by the courts, and not by the Department of Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is the reason for the well-founded objections of many citizens on the social network.

The reforms being carried out in the country are aimed at preventing unnecessary red tape among citizens and fair treatment of them. The above situation leads to unnecessary waste of drivers' money and their time.

On the basis of the above, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In order to prevent the recurrence of such cases in the future, citizens were asked to inform in advance about the repair work and take measures to prevent the imposition of fines on them for these reasons.
