Classification of Crimes Against Women and Children Affected by Harassment and Violence: Paths for Effective Cooperation and Communication
On October 21-23, 2024, in cooperation with the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman), the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the UNDP office in Uzbekistan, a seminar-training was held on the topic "Classification of Crimes Against Women and Children Affected by Harassment and Violence, as well as Effective Cooperation and Dialogue with Them."

The seminar was attended by staff from the Secretariats of the Ombudsman and the Children's Ombudsman, representatives of NGOs, and civil society institutions. The main goal of the event was to ensure impartial and accurate classification of crimes committed against individuals affected by harassment and violence, and to develop mechanisms for effective cooperation between state bodies and civil society organizations in supporting victims.

Participants engaged in various practical activities to learn effective ways of communicating with women and children affected by harassment and violence, as well as methods of providing psychological, legal, and social support. They also received extensive information about crimes against women and children who have suffered from domestic and family violence, gender equality, the consequences of violence, inter-agency cooperation to protect victims and hold offenders accountable, and methods of working with perpetrators.

The 3-day seminar, filled with interactive Q&A sessions, concluded with the issuance of certificates to participants.

During the seminar, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and the Uzbekistan branch of the international non-profit association "Search for Common Ground."

It is worth noting that this international non-profit organization has branches in over 50 countries and implements several projects to support women and children affected by harassment and violence.
