The institute of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) was established in 1995, on the initiative of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
Reliable legal framework and organizational conditions of activity, allowed the institute of the Ombudsman to become an active participant of large-scale democratic transformations in which the human rights and freedoms defined as the highest value and priority.
The comprehensive and effective support of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, led the Institute to a qualitatively new stage of its development, contributed to strengthening the constructive role of the Ombudsman in implementing the progressive objectives of the Action Strategy for the five priority areas of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dialogue with society and each individual, promoting the principles of justice, humanity and the rule of law.
