For the first time under the updated Constitution, the Ombudsman submitted a legislative proposal to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis by way of legislative initiative
It should be noted that under article 98 of the new version of the Constitution, in addition to citizens with the right to vote and a population of at least 100,000, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Central Electoral Commission, the Authorized Person for Human Rights of the Oliy Majlis (Ombudsman) is also empowered to submit legislative proposals to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis by way of legislative initiative.

On the basis of the social status of our Government as enshrined in our Constitution and taking into account the appeals of citizens, the Ombudsman, for the first time by way of a legislative initiative, submitted to the lower house of Parliament a proposal aimed at supporting citizens in socio-economic terms and ensuring the right to education for them and their families.

On August 6, 2024, a regular plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held, at which the legislative proposal of the Authorized Representative of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) “On making additions to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was considered and the relevant decision of the Legislative Chamber was adopted.
