The meeting was attended by the Ombudsman of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Iran and Tajikistan as well as heads of national human rights institutions, international organizations and government agencies, and representatives of community human rights organizations.
During the event, information was presented on the most effective foreign practices of ensuring the rights of young people, including the creation of adequate opportunities for them in education, health, work and entrepreneurship, addressing issues of their comprehensive support.
Also, F. Eshmatova the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, made a report at the event. During which it was noted that the youth issue in Uzbekistan is one of the priorities of state policy and for the last 5 years more than 50 laws and other normative legal acts were adopted to protect rights and interests of youth, that the most important directions of youth policy of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the issues of providing the youth with decent education and their employment.
In addition, the report mentioned the resolution initiated by Uzbekistan at the 48th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on creating equal opportunities for young people and ensuring their rights and freedoms in the context of reducing the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It should be noted that the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance is the first alliance uniting the efforts of human rights defenders in the region. This organization provides interaction of ombudsmen of Eurasian countries and allows them to promptly solve problems of citizens of their countries abroad.
At the end of the VI meeting of the Eurasian Ombudsman Alliance issues were discussed and proposals related to the strengthening of mechanisms to ensure the rights of young people in the Eurasian region were developed.
