The participants of the event had the opportunity to get acquainted with the experience of national human rights institutions of other countries in dealing with appeals, combating the growing digital inequality and preventing violations of human rights in the digital space.
The meeting was attended by more than a hundred representatives of national human rights institutions of foreign countries. In particular, representatives of the Ombudsman's offices and other national human rights institutions in Korea, Colombia, Argentina, Congo, Libya, Armenia, Spain and other countries shared their experience in protecting human rights in the digital age.
Emphasis was placed on the effective use of digital technologies in the implementation of public control in Uzbekistan, in particular, on organizing the work of the Ombudsman to study and solve problems related to violation of the law in a social network with the help of regional representatives.
In addition, Feruza Eshmatova noted that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ombudsman and his staff did not limit themselves to considering written appeals, but also carried out monitoring visits in all regions of the country.
It should be noted that in 2020, in accordance with the Paris Principles, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) was accredited by the Global Alliance and received the status “B”.
