The conference that brings together ombudsmen of many countries of the world, is aimed at strengthening cooperation in the protection of human rights and freedoms and sharing mutual experience. It examines the experiences of ombudsmen on issues such as cooperation with government bodies in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, digitization mechanisms in the protection of human rights, ensuring human rights at the time of global crises, and the right to quality medical care.

Speaking at the event, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) shared on the large-scale reforms being implemented to ensure human rights in our country and emphasized on the tasks facing the Ombudsman’s Office in this process. In particular, she focused on the restitution of violated rights through the review of citizens’ applications, and the importance of monitoring visits to penitentiary institutions.

A number of bilateral meetings have been planned within the framework of the visit to Italy with the support of the UNDP Uzbekistan’s project on "Strengthening the Rule of Law and Protection of Human Rights in Uzbekistan".
