During the meeting the guests were informed about the main areas of the Ombudsman’ s activities, including work with appeals, cooperation with civil society institutions, monitoring of visits to penal institutions with limited freedom of movement, international cooperation and public relations activities. Specifically, it was noted that the Ombudsman will be submitting alternative reports on the implementation of international conventions to the relevant UN committees.
The Head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights' (OHCHR) Regional Office for Central Asia Matilda Bogner has highly appraised the reforms that are carried out in Uzbekistan and said they are always ready to cooperate in this direction.
The issues of further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations and its structures in the field of human rights protectionwere discussed during the dialogue.
The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly manner.
