On June 29, 2024, the Ombudsman held a meeting with Ivana Živković, Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS, at the UNDP headquarters.

During the meeting, wide-ranging reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in all areas were discussed, including in the field of human rights, parliamentary elections, legislative changes, as well as the activities of the Ombudsman institution.

During the conversation, the host noted that in recent years, ties between Uzbekistan and the UN have been rapidly strengthening, and also emphasized that Uzbekistan is currently a leader in the region in implementing reforms to ensure human rights, particularly in the area of gender equality.

In addition, Ivana Živković expressed her readiness to cooperate in supporting and strengthening the Ombudsman institution and civil society.

At the end of the meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of sincerity and constructiveness, the parties exchanged views on prospective cooperation projects.

The Ombudsman also participated in a reception dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of independence, which took place on August 28 at the UN headquarters with the participation of representatives of the diplomatic corps and diaspora.

As part of the working visit, the Ombudsman will also attend meetings of UN bodies, meet with the head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in New York, representatives of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and a number of other international organizations.
