The role of national human rights institutions in ensuring human rights in climate change processes
On October 2-3, 2024, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Azerbaijan held an International Conference on “Climate Change and Human Rights: the Role of Ombudsman and National Human Rights Institutions” in Baku. Deputy of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis on Human Rights (Ombudsman) Bekzod Narimanov participated in it.

The conference served as an effective platform for the world's ombudsmen to strengthen cooperation on climate change and human rights protection, as well as innovative approaches. It explored international experience of cooperation between the Ombudsman and state authorities in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, ensuring public access to information on climate change and its consequences, and considered issues of multilateral cooperation in combating climate change.

The forum was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, representatives of a number of national human rights institutions of foreign countries and international organizations.

On this day Ombudsmen of foreign countries laid flowers at the tomb of national leader of Azerbaijani people Haidar Aliyev and honored his memory.
