The Ombudsman Meets with Austrian Parliament Representatives and Fellow Compatriots
A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, led by the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova, participated in several events as part of an official visit to Austria. During the visit, members of the delegation met with David Pinhasov, Head of the State and Society Dialogue Platform of the Austrian Parliament, and representatives of the international relations department. The delegation familiarized themselves with the history of the Parliament, its structure, and its working procedures.

It was noted that the Austrian Parliament organizes citizen receptions, reviews their appeals, and forwards their suggestions to Members of Parliament.

The Austrian Parliament, established in 1883, consists of two chambers. The National Council is formed through direct elections and comprises 183 members with a five-year term. The Federal Council is formed through indirect elections in provincial assemblies of the nine federal states and consists of 61 members. The Austrian Ombudsman is elected from among the Members of Parliament.

Additionally, during the visit to Austria, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova held a meeting with citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan residing in Austria. The meeting was attended by students studying in Austria, entrepreneurs conducting business there, and compatriots working in the country.
